When I was a little guy I used to watch countless reruns of the Monkees. I absolutely loved the show and fell equally in love with the music. I can remember discovering an old Beatles "Hard Day's Night" record album in my mom's record collection and running up to her with album in hand, emphatically pointing at the cover and demanding my mom tell me who these guys were that were copying the Monkees! How dare they!! Lol! A few years later I was to discover that it was indeed the other way around, but that didn't stop me from still loving the songs.

Jump ahead many years and I find I still have the Monkees high up on my personal playlist. They have some great tunes! As a bit of a homage to them, and my childhood, I decided to cover the first of their songs that really grabbed me, "Last Train to Clarksville." Hope you enjoy listening to my version as much as I enjoyed recording it ... and long live the Monkees!!
