Snoopy's Christmas

Story

I was about four years old when my mom bought a Christmas album simply called, "Snoopy's

Christmas Favourites." I had no idea what to expect, but it had Snoopy dancing on the record

album cover, so I figured that it had to be alright. The album contained a cover version of the

Royal Guardsmen's "Snoopy's Christmas" along with a pile of other kid friendly standard

Christmas tunes. I am not even sure if I could tell you the name of the band that was covering

the song, but it was a pretty darn good cover version, and I eventually almost wore out that

record from constant playing. Poor Mom got a little tired of telling me to stop playing that

record, particularly when it was mid-July. She eventually had to hide it from me, and only

brought it out on December 1st of each year.

When it came time to record my first Christmas album in 1994, "Snoopy's Christmas" was

near the top of my list for inclusion on the album.  The song, along with "Snow Miser Heat

Miser," has turned out to be one of my heaviest downloaded songs. As a result, I decided to

re-record it in 2010.  I hope you enjoy this updated version of "Snoopy's Christmas.  And in

the words of the Red Baron, "Merry Christmas Mein Friend!"

Lyrics

The news had come out in the First World War
The bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied Command ignored all of its men
And called on Snoopy to do it again

Twas the night before Christmas 40 below
When Snoopy when up in search of his foe
He spied the Red Baron and fiercely they fought
With ice on his hands Snoopy knew he was stopped

Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ring out from the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to men

The Baron had Snoopy dead in his sights
He reached for the trigger to pull it up tight
Why he didn't shoot well we'll never know
Or was it the bells from the village below

Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ring out from the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to men

The Baron made Snoopy fly to the Rhine
And forced him to land behind the enemy lines
Snoopy was certain that this was the end
When the Baron cried out "Merry Christmas Mein Friend!"

The Baron then offered a holiday toast
And Snoopy our hero saluted his host
And then with a roar they were both on their way

Each knowing they'd meet on some other day

Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ring out from the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to men
